Just Us Girls Wild Card Week

January has a 5th week, so it is Wild Card Time and Nancy is challenging us at Just Us Girls to use a sentiment as the focal point on our cards.  This is a challenge for me because many times I make cards without a sentiment on the front.

Check out how our Guest Designer Judy Woodland and the rest our talented JUGS Design Team have focused on sentiments.

First stamped the hexagon border from Gina K's I Do with Memento Luxe Nautical Blue then the word "love" from Gina K's Lots of Letters in Memento Luxe Love Letter and covered with clear Glaze pen.  Stenciled on the little hearts.  Stamped the U from an old SU set and die cut the pierced banner.  Added faux stitching with a red gel pen and added the hearts to hide some smudges.

Let us see what you can do with your sentiments.  Your could be our next Chic of the Week, which would then put you in the running for our next Guest Designer.  Please limit your entries to 3.

This also fits in with the TIME OUT Challenge of Valentine's with the optional twist of hearts.

Frog in a Pocket

Definitely a boy thing!  Die cut the pocket from Gina K Denim Blue cardstock and added the faux stitches with a yellow gel pen.  Stamped and colored the frog then cut him out and placed his fingers over the edge of the pocket and popped him up.  Layered onto a gray striped piece of patterned paper.  Stamped and die cut the banner and popped it up over the pocket.  Card base is Gina K Denim Blue.

This is for the following challenges:

A Girl and Her Shoes

This is for the sketch challenge at STAMPlorations playing with my new stamps.

I flipped the sketch for this super simple card.  Stamped the sentiment and shoe from A Girl and Her Shoes with Memento Rhubarb Stalk and Black inks and die cut the banner.  Added the jar ribbon from Eclectic Florals and a bling dot to the shoe.  The card base is a pre-made one from American Crafts.

Thanks for visiting!

Distress Ink Background

Playing with my new stencil from STAMPlorations and some Distress Inks.

Distress inks were swiped across my craft mat and misted with water, then placed my cardstock in the wet inks and swirled around.  After that had dried I taped off the stencil and sponged in some Memento Olive Grove ink.  The sentiment from STAMPlorations Chevron and Arrows was also stamped in Memento Olive Grove using my new MISTI.

I am entering this into the STAMPlorations challenges:  Sketch Challenge #26, January Challenge Stamps and Ink and Anything Goes.

Thanks for taking a closer look!

Blue Valentine

Playing in a few challenges:

TIME OUT Challenges - Valentines with the optional twist of hearts

The Male Room - Challenge # 2/15 Shades of Blue

Freshly Made Sketches

Using an older Gina K set - Heartily Yours.  The stenciled hearts were hard to photograph, but are sponged with Brilliance blue ink and added some small die cut hearts, too.  Stamped the lava lamp with Memento Nautical Blue then used a blue Wink of Stella marker to color the lava, cut it out and popped it up over the sentiment banner.  Added a strip of blue diagonal striped washi tape and a couple of light blue enamel dots.

Thanks for dropping in!

Just Us Girls Photo Week

Chris has a very yummy photo for inspiration at Just Us Girls this week.  This photo is so perfect to help me finish up my Valentine cards.

Check out what our Guest Designer Judy Woodland and the rest of the JUGS Design Team have been inspired by this photo to create.

I used an old, yet beloved set Lots of Hearts by Gina K.  Stamped the hearts and cut them out and layered onto some Gina K Dark Chocolate cardstock.  Stamped the border with Memento Espresso Truffle, Gina K, Pretty Patterns and stamped the little hearts into the circles.  Stamped the sentiment and die cut the banner and decided it needed a little something, so added a couple little hearts.

Let's see how this photo inspires you.  If you play along with us, you could be chosen as our Chic of the Week and a chance at being our Guest Designer for the month of March.  Please limit your entries to 3.

Soccer Star

Following the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches for my grandson's birthday card.

A shaker card filled with sequins and tiny wooden stars.  Papers are from Mel Stampz, polka dots and tiny stars.  I used fun foam with the star die cut just like the top layer, a tip from Jennifer McGuire,  love her blog.  I used dimensional dots under the center of the sentiment to give it support in the center and line up with the white star.

Thanks for visiting my blog!

Just Us Girls Color Challenge

Maria has some beautiful colors for our challenge at Just Us Girls this week.  I love this color combination, it has so many possibilities.

Take a look at the great creations that our Guest Designer Judy Woodland and the rest of our Design Team at JUGS have come up with for our Color Challenge.

Stamped the balloons with Memento Luxe Nautical Blue, Hero Arts Lime Green and SU Only Orange.  Die cut with coordinating dies, covered with Versamark and heat embossed with clear ep.

Come and play along with us in our Color Challenge and you could become our next Chic of the Week, which would then make you eligible to possibly become our Guest Designer for the month of March!  Please limit your entries to 3.

Can't wait to see what you can create with these fun colors!

Love Always

I made an anniversary card for a very good friend and her husband.  She loves purple so that fit right in with the challenge at Colour Me.

Used the sketch from Cardabilities

And the theme from The Card Concept

I guess this would be considered to be a clean and layered style.  Sentiment from Gina K Lots of Hearts stamped with Memento Elderberry and die cut with a pennant die.  The circles are Spellbinders circles and the flower from Memory Box.  Finished off by tying a twine bow around the sentiment banner.

Thanks for paying me a visit!

Just Us Girls - Trend Week

It's my turn to bring you this week's Trend Challenge at Just Us Girls.  I am challenging you to use a stencil on your creation.  If you don't have any stencils you can punch or die cut some shapes or words and use the negative piece for your stencil.  Stencils are so versatile; you can sponge ink through them, use spray mists, watercolors, acrylic paint, modeling paste, spackle or anything you can imagine.

Our fabulous January Guest Designer - Judy Woodland is with us again this week!  Come see how Judy and the rest of the JUGS Design Team have used stencils.

I used a stencil to add the little hearts and the splatter, I am very splatter impaired, so I bought a stencil of splatters.  The larger heart, arrow and sentiment are from the Gina K set - Lots of Lines.  And for a little added pattern, I added a strip of washi tape down the left side.

Can't wait to see what everyone can do with stencils!

If you win Chic of the Week in any of our January challenges, you will be in the running to be our Guest Designer for the month of March.  Good luck!

Please limit your entries to 3

Deadline to be considered for the "Chic of the Week" is 9PM EST on Thursday, January 15th.  Our Chic of the Week will be announced the following Friday.

Thanks for playing along!

Stamplorations Sketch Challenge #25

Loving the sketch at Stamplorations!

I stamped the Grunge Floral Strips with red ink on white cardstock, lining them up to cover more area, then punched out the hearts.  Sponged the edges with Fired Brick Distress Ink.  Stamped the sentiment from Eclectic Florals in black and red inks, cutting out the red heart and layering it over the black.  Stamped the ribbon, also from Eclectic Florals to look like it is tied around the striped strip.
The patterned papers are freebies from Mel Stampz.

Thanks for taking a closer look!

Birthday for a Chemist

I used the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches to make my son-in-law's birthday card, and yes he is a chemist.

The test tube is actually from a Halloween set, but I thought it was perfect.  Colored the tube with watercolor pencil and clear Wink of Stella for some sparkle.  Added some nerdy glasses with tape on the bridge.  I paired the dotted paper because it reminded me of the bubbles in the test tube and the graph paper because I thought it was appropriate.  The sentiment has stenciled splatters on it, maybe because an experiment went wrong.

Thanks for taking a look!

Just Us Girls - Word Week

Sharyn is our hostess this week for our Word Challenge at Just Us Girls and the word she has chosen is "Winter".  How does "Winter" inspire you where you live?

We would like to welcome our January Guest Designer - Judy Woodland!  Now come on over to JUGS to see what Judy and the rest of the Design Team are inspired by "Winter".

I actually like to have snow on the ground if it has to be cold!  I love it when my grandsons are here and we build a snowman, so that is what I went with.  I stamped, colored with Touch Twin markers and cut out the Stampendous snowman.  Used my curved dies I recently got from Taylored Expressions to cut some Core'dinations White Washed cardstock.  Sanded the edges and added a little clear Wink of Stella.  The sentiment is from Gina K.  Love these fun card bases I picked up at TJ Maxx.

Now it is your turn to come play with us at JUGS, showing us how "Winter" inspires you in your part of the world!  You could be chosen as our Chic of the Week and that would put you in the running to be chosen as our Guest Designer for the month of March.  Please limit your entries to 3.
